Counting Calories To Lose Weight Sensibly

Scientifically, every pound of body fat represents approximately 3500 calories. Based on this, to lose 1 pound per week you will need to reduce your calorie intake by 3500 calories per week. So, for each pound you want to lose every week, you need to subtract 500 calories per day, from your current consumption level.

Generally, less than 1200 calories daily are not recommended and weight loss of more than 2 pounds per week is also not recommended.

On diet alone, you can see how it won't be possible to lose a pound a day unless of course you already have a considerable calorie intake and the reduction will still leave you with sufficient food and nutrition to remain healthy.

For a more balanced approach to a 1 pound per week weight loss, increase your activity. Decrease your calorie intake by 250 calories per day and exercising to expend the other 250 calories. This approach prevents a decrease in your metabolic rate and promotes increased lean muscle mass, which in turn is the most effective fat consumer. Yes, muscle eats fat, by default.

For a loss of two pounds per week, do the math: 1000 calories per week less, preferably by consuming 500 calories less on a daily basis, and burning 500 by a vigorous exercise routine.

But, sensibly, you only need to reduce your calorie intake by 100 calories per day to make a substantial effect on your weight over the period of the year. By reducing your calories by only 100 calories per day over the course of the year you would have consumed 36,500 less calories and that converts to a weight reduction of almost 10.5 pounds.

That is an easily accomplished weight reduction with very little change to your lifestyle and habits.

Dr Suzanne Gudakunst - What Are The Benefits of Her Weight Loss Program?

Dr. Suzanne Gudakunst's new fat loss program, The Top Secret Fat Loss Secret, is rapidly gaining popularity as a potent way to lose weight fast. But that isn't the only benefit that Dr. Suzanne Gudakunst is claiming her program delivers to the people who use it. This article is about this program and what it can do for you.

The first thing you should know is that any diet that works for you and gets you to lose your excess weight is also improving your health as a result, since being overweight is decidedly unhealthy. A detox diet like Dr. Suzanne Gudakunst's program may also do other things which may greatly improve your health.

Here are the possible benefits of Dr. Suzanne Gudakunst's new fat loss program:

  • It can help you to lose a lot of weight fast
  • It can cleanse your body of bowel worms
  • It can purge your system of colon parasites
  • It can help you flush out dangerous intestinal plaque
  • It can help alleviate chronic conditions
  • It can help prevent or help overcome certain diseases

Now, don't get me wrong, this program isn't perfect. It's also not the easiest thing to do. Flushing out your system isn't an easy thing. It can be somewhat unpleasant ad requires determination. You will of course need to keep maintaining a healthy lifestyle after you complete this program in order to maintain your new weight and overall health. Another thing about this program is that it doesn't build any muscles since it doesn't include any exercise. But as a way to lose weight fast, it can be highly effective.

Active Stretching Exercises - Is It Simply A Waste Of Your Time?

To maintain a healthy lifestyle, merely watching our diet may prove to be inadequate. Having a varied exercise regime which includes both cardiovascular and strength-training exercises should be incorporated. You can opt to sign up at a gym for energetic aerobic classes or even opt for brisk walking in the park. There is a wide range of exercise choices available for you!

However, people tend to focus on the type of exercise itself, and forget to pay attention to stretching, not realizing the importance of active stretching. Common excuses for such negligence are tiredness and a lack of time before and after their workouts. Active stretching is necessary and should be incorporated along with the daily routine as it helps to prevent the straining of muscles to a large extent. Active stretching can be used almost anytime of the day, to relieve tension and stress as well as after an intensive workout.

There are some guidelines when attempting to perform active stretching. Posture and technique are important aspects to pay attention to. Active stretching should take place after a body has been warmed up, either by walking or even by doing daily household chores as well as manual labor! Contrary to popular belief, one should not begin a workout routine by stretching, as the muscles are not warmed up or loose enough to be flexed properly. Stretching before warming up can lead to strains. An adequate warm-up can be as simple as five or ten minutes of walking at a moderate pace, or even after completing your household chores that require a little more movement. A good time for active stretching is after the completion of your weight-training and cardiovascular workout.

The type of workout you choose will determine the type of active stretching. For instance, cardiovascular exercises such as running, affect the focus of your stretching. The focus of the stretch should be your legs, hips and ankles as they bore the majority of the impact while running. One popular way to stretch is aptly named the runners stretch. You will have to stretch and place your hands on the ground in front of you to keep your torso off the ground. The right knee is bent out in front of the body while the opposite leg is stretched behind and straightened. Not only would your hamstrings and hips get a good stretch with this technique, the crucial muscles to pay attention to; other parts of your body are being stretched as well, including your sides.

Attention should be given to your inner thighs as well after running. You can sit on the floor, with the heels of the feet together. Your knees would be facing outwards while you gently lean from the waist, bringing your forehead toward your heels in one smooth motion, avoiding jerky movements to reduce strain on your muscles. Remember to breathe deeply while you stretch!

Active stretching integrates flexibility into your workout routine, helping to prevent sport injuries and is not time consuming. After all, youve expended a lot of effort in your workout; a little more time devoted to active stretching would do wonders to round it off!

Day 1 - Follow My Weight Loss Program - And So It Begins

Ok so over the past few years, give or take a few, I have packed on some extra pounds. Ok how about 50 extra pounds. With a lack of exercise and good eating habits, it really doesn't come as a surprise.

However with a 7 month old son now, I feel I owe it to him to get in great shape. Otherwise I might not be able to catch him once he starts walking.

I actually started yesterday, but thought it would be a good idea to share my progress with the Internet crowd with this blog. Let me first say, I am not a personal trainer, salesman of any health related products or anything like that. Just an average person who is trying to lose 50 pounds and is willing to share it with you.

My goal is to lose 50 pounds by December 31st, 2008. That gives me roughly 54 weeks to make it happen. In turn using this information I need to lose 0.93 pounds each and every week. Sounds like a reasonable goal and very achievable. The hard part is, can I stay on it? Can I stay on a daily regiment of eating right and exercising for that long?

The way I look at it, I really don't have a choice. I have to. For the sake of my son and family and my own health, it needs to be done.

Over the past few weeks I have been reading a number of health magazines and books, to get up to date on eating right and proper exercising.

I will post my progress everyday on here for the previous days activities.

Also as I come across something interesting that I feel I should share, such as a healthy recipe or good exercise, I will write about it here and let you know of the source as to where I obtained the information. I will not post something that I don't try first. It is just not fair to anyone who reads this. How can I endorse something if I don't even try it?

I am still new to the "blogging thing", so I will try and post pictures whenever possible to show everyone my progress. Along with posting pictures I will post a daily account of what I ate for each meal. Feel free to comment, good or bad (I can take criticism) on anything that you read. However don't post anything in the comments if you are trying to sell something. I will delete it. This is not a commercial blog for your financial gain. It is a blog to share with others a real life experience of losing weight.

Regards,
Mike P.

Day 1 - Weight: 275 pounds

NUTRITION
Meal 1: 3 egg whites, 1 whole egg
Meal 2: 1 packet of tuna
Meal 3: Spinach and lettuce mix with cut up baked chicken tenderloin and a small Gordon's salmon patty.
Meal 4: A small Gordon's Salmon patty
Meal 5: 2 1/2 whole eggs

EXERCISE
Walked the dog in the early morning for about a half hour. Wasn't a steady even paced walk as the dog needs to, you know, stop and do his thing.

NOTES
First day was tough in the sense of eating every 2 to 3 hours. I haven't done that in years, but it was a lot tougher late at night, while I am sitting there watching the football game. I was used to eating chips and other bad foods. It is a bad habit I am sure will really challenge my will power.

How To Get Rid of a Beer Belly

If you want to know how to get rid of your beer belly, you've stumbled upon the right article. Here I shall write the necessary steps to start losing your excess belly fat and having a flat stomach. But just so you'll know, it may take some time for you to complete this process, but if you take the steps I write of here, you will see constant and improving results.

Step #1 - Remove the cause

Before starting to reverse the process which brought about your beer belly, you need to erase the thing which caused it. By this I mean that you have to stop feeding it so that the only place it will have to go is down. If you think I mean that you need to go on a fad diet, or anything, then you've got me all wrong. What I do want you to do is make some simple adjustments to your diet:

  1. Cut down on alcohol - They don't call it a beer belly for nothing. Alcohol is filled with sugar and empty calories. Cut down on alcohol and you will have a much easier time to get rid of your beer belly.
  2. Cut down fried, fast food, and processed food - If you eat fresh food, a lot of vegetables, fruit, lean meat, and complex carbs like brown rice and whole flour pasta, your body will have much easier time to use the calories you're feeding it instead of turning them into ugly abdominal fat.
  3. Eat more meals but make them smaller - Most people eat large meals making it impossible for their body to cope with all the food they eat. The only thing left is to turn much of their food to fat. If you break your meals into 4-6 smaller portions throughout the day, your body will have a much easier time of it.

Step #2 - Reverse the Process

The second step in your process to lose your beer belly is to get a little more active. Even a small amount of exercise can do wonders. You wouldn't believe the results you may have. Start walking in the evenings, play a sport (even golf or bowling is better than sitting at home), or join a gym. Whatever suits you. You need to do some exercise in order to accelerate the fat burning process. Don't think that sit-ups will do anything to your stomach fat, because they won't. The key to getting rid of it is to lower overall body fat. The best way to do this is through complete strength and cardiovascular workouts. But again, start slow and gradually build up your activity levels.

The best thing to do in order to get rid of your beer belly is to become better educated at fitness and diet issues. Once you know the right things to do, it'll be much easier for you to succeed.

Walk your way to a Healthy Weight Loss

Many health practitioners recommend daily walking targets of 10,000 steps to see improvements in your health and weight. Walking is not a strenuous activity, but managing an hours walk with a healthy diet pattern can save your body from obesity symptoms. If you cannot follow the walking and diet plan, then just keep on with your walking plan. You will feel better and also see improvements in your body shape.

Walking, the right tool for the Overweight

People who are overweight or obese generally lack the determination to engage in active physical activities. They are many times referred to as couch potatoes who enjoy watching TV and doing things without moving from a particular place. Expecting them to do weight loss exercises which will have a mix of aerobics and floor exercises is asking for too much. For them walking is the best bet. When compared to all the other work outs which promote weight loss, walking is far easier. The ideal way to persuade an obese adult for an exercise is by calling him out for a walk. Begin with 15 minutes of walking everyday. And this could gradually move up to 30 and 60 minutes.

Doctors while prescribing diet pills for obesity treatment proposes walking as a form of exercise to go with it. In addition to these two a well planned diet which contains lots of fruits and vegetables will fetch excellent weight loss results. Diet pills like Phentermine are effective when combined with exercise and a good diet plan. So walking is always a value addition to any weight loss plan. Be it bariatric surgery, treatment with diet pills or popular weight loss plans like Atkins or South Beach Diet, walking when included with any of these return with admirable results.

Go walking now

Before you take those first steps take care:

  • Use the right foot ware so that you dont injure any part of your body
  • Walk fast for better results
  • Dont walk miles the first day, go slow and pick up the pace and distance
  • Once you begin and lose some pounds you would certainly want to walk everyday

Xenadrine EFX Review

Xenadrine EFX claims to be a clinically proven potent ephedra free thermogenic fat burner that is capable of increasing an individual's metabolic rate. My immediate concern after initial analysis of the Cytodyne Xenadrine EFX formula is that it appears that the formulator of Xenadrine EFX may have confused the definition of increased metabolic rate with over stimulation. Giving the Xenadrine EFX product the benefit of the doubt wasn't difficult for me because although their formula seemed somewhat light from an ingredient quality perspective, I had to give them kudos for their conceptual efforts.

The manufacturers of Xenadrine EFX have incorporated some fancy names for the proprietary blends they used like Isotherm and Thermodyne, keeping in the back of your mind they are just names and don't have any influence on the performance of the formula. They also decided to utilize synonyms that had a more appealing or technical look to them instead of using the more common names, for instance the 3,3,45, 7-pentahydroxy-flavone, which is commonly known as Quercetin.

I also have considerable concern regarding their label claim that Xenadrine EFX is clinically proven, you would assume that this meant proven to support weight loss or management and the ability to burn fat. After recognizing this I sourced the clinical papers they so kindly made available on their web site. After reviewing the papers, it was clear that such a label claim could not be supported, and that it was a bit confusing to the consumer. What the label could say is Clinically Proven to be Safe for 14 days, which reflects the design of the Xenadrine EFX papers. The research doesnt show any evidence of increasing the rate of fat lipolysis or any catalytic potential, it does show an increase in resting heart rate and thermogenic potential, supporting greater calories utilized. This evidence may support the prevention of weight gain under the direction of a controlled diet and exercise program. They seem to state the obvious in two of the papers available; Weight control is mandated by two methods: reducing energy intake or increasing energy expenditure now this is profound! In order to truly raise basal metabolic activity in order to burn fat is to directly stimulate or support the Thyroid hormone T3, which effectively oxidizes fat producing energy. This is one of the weaknesses of the Xenadrine EFX formula. There is no component(s) in Xenadrine EFX to support fat metabolism directly.

After a further evaluation of the formula I agree with the utilization of the -sympathicomimetics, which are a blend of adrenergic amines (synephrine, n-methyltryamine, hordinine, octopamine, tyramine) in the Bitter Orange extract. This will facilitate a greater potential for the utilization of energy substrates. Coupled with the energy yielding Seropro (cocoa extract yielding theobromine), which stimulates but doesnt over excite the central nervous system or interfere by extending the cyclic adenosine monphosphate levels, which may in turn cause irritability or sleeplessness. Cytodyne should be commended for the inclusion of these ingredients in their product.

On the other hand the composition of the remaining active ingredients for the Xenadrine EFX formula doesn't make as much sense structure function wise. I see an extreme potential for over stimulation from neurotransmitter precursors; Tyroplex (l-tyrosine, acetyl-l-tyrosine), they are mainly for the production of a catacholamine known as norepinephrine an excitatory neurotransmitter that has no effect on fat metabolism and is generally inactivated by monoamine oxidase in the cell. Combined with the abundance of caffeine (green tea extract, yerbe mate), one may experience a feeling a trusty buzz. This combination could produce negative sensitivity; sleeplessness, irritability, and nervous energy that may leave a user feeling uncomfortable. If your sensitive to stimulants you should keep this in mind if you are considering taking any stimulant based weight loss product.

As a final observation, I noticed that the ingredient declaration and label copy did not support any of the patented or copyrighted raw materials that you often find in other top notch weight loss products. Inclusion of such ingredients often supports some clinical validation for effectiveness and technical support for credibility; this tells me that this probably did not occur because of production budgetary restrictions. This is where Xenadrine EFX falls a bit short. I wish they had put a bit more focus on quality and not necessarily quantity of ingredients.

In conclusion, the Xenadrine EFX by formula evaluation is a very respectable product but it has some slight loose ends from an ingredient quality standpoint. All in all, if you are watching your diet and doing some form of regular exercise you should find Xenadrine EFX to be helpful in rounding out your program.

Slim Down Quickly

If you need to slim down quickly, because of an upcoming event such as a wedding, a holiday, or you need to meet the qualifications for a particular event or program, then following the calorie shifting diet plan will help you reach your goal, at the pace of about 9 pounds every 11 days.

The calorie shifting diet is by far one of the easiest crash diets you can follow. Unlike other crash diets which require you to reduce calories, carbohydrates, or to eat only one type of food while eliminating all others, this diet plan allows you to eat as much food as you desire at each meal until you are satisfied (but not too full).

Not only that, but while on this diet, you get to eat food from all four food groups. Even better than that, this diet requires you to eat four full meals each and every day, as long as those meals are spaced out by at least 2.5 to 3 hours.

Perhaps the most riveting feature of the calorie shifting diet is that you are required to take a mandatory 3-day break from your diet every 14 days, to give your body a chance to rest from the rapid weight loss you will have been experience. Now, if you need to slim down quickly and don't have the patience to wait 3 days before resuming this crash diet, rest assured that your net weight loss will be at least 20 pounds in one month, on average.

How does calorie shifting work? How is it possible to lose 20 pounds a month while eating plentiful foods from all of the major food groups, four times a day, every day? Simply put, calorie shifting is based on the premise that you can manipulate your body's metabolism at will and induce the burning of fat by shifting the types of calories that you consume, from meal to meal. Essentially, you are simulating a sustained nutritional deficit in your body that normally triggers your metabolism's "survival" response which causes it to tap into your body's fat reserves for energy. This is achieved by withholding and reintroducing certain nutrients into and from your diet on a rotational basis.

Do you need to slim down quickly? The Calorie Shifting Diet will get you to your goal! Lose 9 pounds in the next 11 days. Learn how at: http://www.CalorieShiftingDiet.info

Low Carb Diet Tips: How to Fight Intestinal Problems Easily - Part I

Diseases such as constipation and diarrhea are not uncommon. They happen to everybody, especially when you go for a major change of diet, such as switching from a high carb to a low carb diet. Diarrhea happens mostly to low carbers because when you are on a low carb diet, your body produces fewer carbohydrates and more ketones. Low carbers also suffer from constipation. However, it should be noted that constipation doesn't stem directly from a low carb diet regimen. In fact, constipation is caused when your body receives less than the required amount of carbohydrates. Foods such as legumes, pulses and whole grains contain a lot of fiber but unfortunately, these foods are strictly prohibited during the early periods of the low carb program. In this article I will tell you how to fight back constipation and diarrhea and regain your normal health.

How to Fight Constipation:

Let me tell you one thing upfront: if your previous diet was full of sugar and starchy foods, it would take sometime before you can adjust yourself to a low carb diet. However, constipation is not directly associated with low carb diet. In fact, it is a different kind of a problem, and can be caused by a combination of problems. Most commonly, constipation is caused because of fiber deficiency. To give your body the required amount of fiber, you need to eat fresh fruits and vegetables. Also drink lots of water every day. And never ever buy over-the-counter pills, especially pain-killers, codeine and other opiates, as well as antidepressants, iron pills and diuretics. These drugs have certain ingredients in them which cause constipation.

If you want to cure constipation permanently, laxatives won't help either. It is OK to use laxatives for a short time, but for long term I would use a stool softener such as Docusate, which are non-addictive and easily absorbed in the body.

Another way to cure constipation is to eat fiber supplements such as sugar-free Metamucil, or plain psyllium husks, which will force the bowel to move forward. Note however that you should eat this fiber supplement only with water; otherwise it will have negative effects on your body.

Another way to cure constipation is to do exercises regularly. Because when you do exercises, your whole body starts moving, and consequently, your bowel too starts moving! You can also practice yoga as it has been found to be helpful for constipation patients.

In the second part of this article, I will tell you how to cure diarrhea and irritable bowel syndrome (ibs), as well as how to find good low carb food products. To access the second part, simply click on the link in my resource box below.

Weight Loss For Busy Parents

Parenthood is an exciting time to play with your kids, take them places, and teach them all your knowledge, as long as you don't teach them to be overweight. It is also a difficult time to balance schedules, push your career forward and get a good night's sleep. We spend less time on ourselves which makes the weight creep up. Moms have a battle with weight gain soon after giving birth but Dads also feel the pressure to stay busy with work while still providing quality time with their families.

How did life get so complicated and why does it interfere with weight loss efforts? A short list would include:

- Lack of time to exercise

- Childcare issues interfering with exercise

- Lack of financial resources to purchase gym memberships or home equipment

- Resuming exercise after a long time off can be painful and discouraging

- Time spent shuffling kids back and forth from school and activities

- Less time to shop and prepare healthy meals while more time is spent in the drive thru

- Kids are picky eaters and nutrition information is confusing

- Work schedules are more demanding

- Stress prevents weight loss due to hormonal and immune system disruptions

- More errands, yard work, and fix it jobs

- Lack of energy when all of the day's chores are finally finished

Busy parents often feel depressed when they think about their poor health yet feel guilty thinking they might neglect their children if they take time for themselves.

If these situations sound familiar, it is very common to feel overwhelmed enough to push weight loss goals on to the back burner. The usual grocery store gossip doesn't help either. How often do parents hear their peers tell them their age is a factor and it is so much harder to lose weight after children come along? Because parents want to be good examples for their children the internet becomes great problem solver.

Busy parents need a weight loss tool that is not complicated and takes very little time to organize. The internet can be a great help by immediately taking away some of the financial and time constraints listed above. Health education available online is a time saver compared to driving to classes or doctors' offices which takes time away from family. Anonymous support on internet discussion boards can prevent embarrassment for those who are shy about their weight loss struggles. Real people can share their real experiences a few minutes each day encouraging participants to stay focused.

The rewards will benefit the entire family giving children healthier, energized and enthusiastic parents. A few searches on the internet with the right keywords will guide busy parents to the type of website that meets their needs. The Numbers Don't Lie Diet is one program from a mother's point of view who experienced a weight problem when her first child was born.

With a common sense approach tracking progress on the internet puts weight loss success at your fingertips making any busy parent an EZLoser.

How To Pass The Air Force Physical Fitness Test With Ease

If you're reading this, you probably either want to know what you'll have to do for the air force physical fitness test and/or how to train for it.

This article will cover both.

What Is Involved In The Air Force Physical Fitness Test?

You'll be doing exercises in the following 4 areas: aerobic (running), body-composition, push-ups, and crunches.

Now, you'll be rated on a scale of 1-100, but the trick comes with the age groups. You see, with different age groups comes different demands.

Just to state the obvious, the older you are the less you'll be required to do.

If you want a full list of these ages and the requirements you can visit
http://usmilitary.about.com/od/airforce/l/blmalefitness.htm if you're a male and
http://usmilitary.about.com/od/airforce/l/blfitfemale.htm if you're a female.

3 Steps To Training For The Air Force Physical Fitness Test

1) The first thing you'll want to do is write down the top grade you can get for each category. For example, 60 pushups would be a perfect 10 for a 20-25 year old.

After you do this, add a few reps and shoot for that. I would personally shoot for 70-75 just to be safe (and maybe impress your future officers).

2) Since you're going to be training to failure during your air force physical fitness test most likely, I would suggest training to failure while you are preparing for the test. However, this is taxing on your body so do not do it everyday. You can try it every other day or ever 2 days, depending on certain factors such as how much you eat, your genetics, etc.

3) The third thing you'll want to do to pass your air force physical fitness test with ease is to start learning how to visualize. It's going to help you tremendously through the grueling workouts the air force will put you through, and it's going to help you reach your goals faster.

The requirements for the air force physical fitness test aren't too hard, but if you're out of shape now they will prove to be a challenge.

Using these 3 techniques, and making sure you prepare in advance, the air force physical fitness test should be a walk in the park for you.

And if you need to lose a lot of weight to make it easier (remember, doing anything with your body will be much easier if you weigh less), there are a large variety of books that are available to help you get a fit body in the shortest amount of time as possible.

Jeremy Reeves believes he's found the best products on the market to help you get in great shape fast. If you're going to start training for the air force physical fitness test, you have to check out the book called "Turbulence Training" that he's reviewed for you on his website - http://www.fitness-product-reviews.com

Weight Loss Quickly

Our body weight affects us in many ways. Many of us search for tips about weight loss quickly because being overweight affects our overall quality of life. There is a large body of research which supports the fact that being overweight can lower self-esteem, can lead to increased instances of depression and other health risks, and can limit our abilities to perform normal physical functions as simple as bending over to tie our shoes.

The good news is that weight loss, even gradual weight loss, can result in many positive changes which affect our overall quality of life. Again, these positive changes are well-documented leading many of us to search for methods of how to lose weight effectively.

It is generally recommended that an overweight person should visit with a doctor prior to beginning a regimen which involves weight loss quickly. After performing an examination or assessment, the doctor will make a recommendation about how to lose weight effectively. This recommendation will generally address several issues including what to eat, when to eat, and appropriate activity levels.

After visiting with a doctor, many people have found that combining the following tips with their doctor's advice about how to lose weight effectively has resulted in a plan that allowed for weight loss quickly.

A weight loss plan that combines the appropriate amounts of mindset, exercise, and nutrition generally results in success. Once a person decides they WILL lose weight, an exercise plan must be developed. This can be as simple as committing to walking, running, swimming, and/or dancing for at least fifteen minutes each day.

Next, an appropriate diet must be developed and maintained. The word "diet" does not necessarily mean eating bland food in small quantities. "Diet" simply means the manner in which you nourish your body. An appropriate diet might consist of small quantities of carbohydrates and proteins consumed every 2-3 hours throughout the day.

Our bodies speak to us. Our body might tell us now is the time to start getting rid of some of the fat we have accumulated. Our body might warn us to cut back from walking 3 miles to walking only 1 mile until we are able to work up to 3 miles. We need to listen to our bodies.

Fiber slows the rate at which our bodies digest food. One result of increasing our intake of fiber is that we feel full for a longer period of time. In addition, fiber causes fat to move more quickly through our digestive systems. Plus, many types of fiber cause our insulin levels to spike by increasing our blood sugar levels, resulting in energizing our bodies.

We all know that fried foods contain alot of fat. We all know also that most fat is not particularly good for our bodies. Grilled food is generally a better choice than fried food. Choose grilled good over fried whenever possible.

Water hydrates and refreshes our body while eliminating toxins. Our bodies must remain hydrated. Drink at least six to eight glasses of water each day.

Many of us want to know how to lose weight effectively. We realize that a disciplined and consistent effort on our part is required. And, we appreciate the fact most methods to achieve weight loss quickly are doomed to failure. We simply need to educate ourselves, adopt a structured plan for weight loss, then stick to our plan in order to achieve weight loss quickly.

Weight loss quickly can be achieved with proper discipline and consistency. If you want more ideas about how to lose weight effectively, Click Here. Get started today . . . you can do it!

Is it really more difficult to lose weight during the holidays? This depends on many things, including how much weight you need to lose and what your eating habits are. Here are some things to look at to see what might be affecting your ability to stay on a weight loss diet.

  • Take a look at your social habits. If your lifestyle includes eating out many times each week or attending other types of social or community events, eating a healthy, low calorie diet may be extremely difficult for you. If this is the case, think about how you can best handle it to match your goals for losing weight. Perhaps eating something healthy before you leave your house, such as an apple or some whole grain crackers, will keep you from eating so much when you are out at a restaurant or other social venue.
  • Keep a journal of what you eat over a three day period. See if you eat more at a specific time of day or during certain times of the year. Holiday times, whether they be during Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Year's or during the summer - Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day, may be times when you are more likely to overeat. Be sure to record your consumption of alcohol, as that can figure into the weight loss equation.

The most important thing is to be aware of what you eat and when you tend to eat more. You may want to find out more about weight loss programs that help you to lose weight quickly.

And now I invite you to learn more about losing weight quickly and keeping it off if you need to lose more than 30 pounds by visiting http://www.FivePoundsAtATime.com to find out about the master cleanse weight loss diet.

How to Lose 10 Pounds in 10 Days and Look Awesome For Your Vacation!

Everyone I know wants to lose weight fast. We live in that kind of instant-on society. We want instant gratification. Give me results and give 'em to me right now!

Show me how I can lose 10 pounds in 10 days and look awesome over the holidays!

And that's not all bad... is it? Or do I lack moral fiber?

It seems to me that if I can have something now, rather that wait 6 months or whatever... then I prefer to have it now. No delayed gratification for this puppy if I can avoid it.

And that usually applies to weight loss too!

I think there are two reasons that we want fast results from a weight loss program:

First, as I said above, we just want to see some results.

But secondly, and I think much more importantly, our experience of dieting is that it's cruel and inhuman suffering. So we just want to get on that diet, suffer for a couple of weeks, blow off some pounds and get rid of the suffering and struggle.

And therein lies the whole problem with diets... we don't plan on making them a lifetime, lifestyle change. They're just a band aid solution to a chronic overweight condition, which just seems to balloon the older we get.

I want to introduce you to another approach to the whole universe of weight loss. What if we were to look at a program of eating that would contain delicious, nutritious foods, take off the weight quite quickly, alleviate the symptoms of diabetes and keep us all healthy for life?

Would that interest you?

You see the process of changing from one way of eating to another involves some transition time while we get used to the new foods and learn to really like them. Think about it... do you still eat the same foods as you did 10 or 20 years ago? Probably not! Yet you like what you're eating now.

It's just like salt on our food... if we have high blood pressure and start on a program of gradually reducing salt (which I've done), we begin to like less salty food and actually find the levels of salt we used to eat are now distasteful.

The little told secret is to make this transition in such a way as to never feel hungry while you're doing it.

I can show you how to get this process started in just 5 days! You'll lose 5 pounds in 5 days or 10 pounds in 10 days and you won't be hungry!

I have recently written a book entitled "Lose Weight - Never Go Hungry" which lays out a plan for overcoming Carbohydrate addiction and losing weight.

You can download it FREE here: "Lose Weight - Never Go Hungry"

Different Types of Weight Loss Supplements

Many individuals would like to lose weight for any number of reasons, including appealing to the opposite gender, boosting ones self-esteem, or even health reasons. Today, there is a number of different kinds of diets and weight loss supplements (or diet pills) available on the market, so the task of selecting one that will work best for you can be somewhat daunting.

Weight loss supplements can be classified into categories: carbohydrate blockers, appetite suppressant, cortisol blockers, and fat reduction supplements.

The carb blocker is still fairly popular. A few years ago, the carb diet was all the rage; people though carbohydrates were unhealthy and not good for the diet, so by taking a carb blocker, one could theoretically eat more carbs while gaining less weight.

Fat loss supplements are designed to burn fat within the body, by a process known as thermogenesis. A supplement that is designed to induce thermogenesis will cause an individuals internal temperature to rise, thus burning body fat.

Cortisol is an component that is naturally produced within the body and is attributed as a major cause of belly fat. Cortisol tends to increase when stressed, leading to a rise in fat cells, particularly in the stomach. A weight loss supplement that is classified as a cortisol blocker works to help fend off and prevent cortisol production in the body.

Perhaps one of the most popular types of diet pills on the market is an appetite suppressant. Such a weight loss supplement is designed to curb hunger, making one feel full while eating less.

Be sure you research any weight loss supplements before you take them. They should be used in conjunction with proper diet and exercise, two other ways you can lose weight effectively. Make sure to carefully read the label and follow directions properly. Doing so will enable you to maximize your weight loss.

Close Kept Secrets to Weight Loss Lesson #44

We are definitely meant for greatness, arent we? We have the ability to transcend any thoughts we choose to experience greatness..its actually a choice. Do we choose to be happy or not--live in lower vibration (unhappiness) or higher vibration (happiness)?

When we believe that things are not going well, then the lower vibration (our EGO) of thought kicks in: Oh, its time to be scared. Nothing good will come to you. Then we choose to be unhappy because of our circumstances.

We actually need to shift our thoughts when we experience our EGO talking to us. We need to do something that gets us to realign our thinking to be connected to God, not our EGO.

The intention of these newsletters is to help you with specific tools to clean your connection to God. These same tools are used in my weight loss program and Im excited to share one of them with you.belly laughing.

Heres some information on laughing. There is an entire industry built around laughter - and not just comedians either! There is a hybrid branch of psychology called "laughter therapy", a new exercise movement called Laughtercising, social laughter clubs, "Laughing rooms" in high-tech workplaces, Laughter workshops, Laughter Institutes, even a World Laughter Tour!

Look at this accomplishment. Katie Namrevo was a "stress eater" who had tried everything with no permanent success. One day after watching a TV program on laughter therapy, she decided to try laughing instead. Giving a new meaning to the phrase "belly laugh," Namrevo says she found that by laughing as often as 10 times a day, she no longer craved food. She began losing weight, she gained more energy and a found desire to exercise. She eventually lost 35 pounds. WOW!

Okay, ready to belly laugh. Take 30 seconds right nowwherever you are and laugh. Drop down on the floor uncontrollably and let go. Even if youre at work, do it and see how contagious it is. You will cause an uncontrollable wave of laughter. Feels great, doesnt it?

One caution though: Accidents can occur as a result of belly laughing. Always have a towel or change of clothing close by.

My intentions are to help you and I wont stop until I succeed in helping as many people as I can. Why am I unstoppable? Because I made a commitment to God that I would do His work and deliver His message, and I intend to honor that commitment.

With this said, I know my weight loss program has long term value in that the results are felt in all aspects of your life with improved relationships with yourself, your significant other, your family, your friends, your co-workers. You see the world differently when you experience the components in my program. I deliver results!

A New Year, A New Body - Be Resolute and Ensure Those Personal Promises Are Kept

For most people, the Christmas period is a time of eating, drinking, sleeping and generally lazing around. After all, it's been a long, hard year so why not indulge, right?

Of course, it would be difficult to argue with this. There is no better way of relaxing and unwinding with family and friends at a time of year that is not only meant for reflection on the year just gone, but also for looking to the new year ahead.

Indeed, following this short period of hedonism at Christmas, many people choose to counteract it by making resolutions to turn over a new leaf in the new year and get fit, lose weight, give up smoking or even all three. Of course, no reminders are needed as to the difficulties countless numbers of people face in keeping these personal promises.

Why many people fail though, is because of the psychological barrier created by the excessiveness of Christmas consumption, meaning that they are already 'behind' schedule by the time the resolution even starts. This scenario is avoidable though, if the correct preparations are made in the build-up to Christmas. And the key lies in starting the resolution BEFORE Christmas and new year.

If we begin with the assumption that Christmas WILL be excessive, then that's a good start, as this is the hardest time of year to fight temptation.

In the month or so before the festive period, start calming down on the chocolate, burgers and beer and start walking more. Not only will this help drop a few pounds on the waist, it will also help save a few pounds in the wallet, in the build-up to what is usually a costly period. Don't join a gym yet though, as the best deals are often found in the new year, when fitness centres try and compete for the business of all the other resolution-makers.

This first step should hopefully negate at least some of the effects of Christmas, meaning there is less ground to make up when the new year starts.

But there are also other easy body toning techniques that can be used in the build up to the festive period. The Slendertone system, for example, uses EMS (electro muscle stimulators) technology to help tone and shape the body muscles. This system can be used at work, at home or on the move, and visible results can be expected in 4 to 8 weeks. If this system is used in conjunction with some light exercise and a healthier diet, in the month leading up to the festive period and a month after, the visible results will ensure that the 'get fit, lose weight' new year resolution stands a vastly improved chance of succeeding.

For most people, Christmas is a time of little exercise and excessive consumption, and there is little point in trying to fight this. To maximise the chances of a successful 'get fit, lose weight' new year resolution, plan ahead in the build up to the festive period and ensure that there is no ground to make up due to too much turkey and wine. Follow these simple steps and the new year should bring that long-awaited new, shapely body.

The Cabbage Soup Recipe Diet For Quick Weight Loss

You've probably heard of the cabbage soup recipe diet. It's also known by several other names including the Mayo Clinic Diet, Sacred Heart Diet, Military Cabbage Soup, TJ's Miracle Diet and the Russian Peasant Diet. It's also called the Banana Diet and I'll tell you why a little later. The reason the diet is somewhat famous is the promise it makes that you can lose ten pounds in a week by following the diet. Is that possible? I can say it is because I've done it myself. And you get plenty to eat and a variety of different foods, so it wasn't that hard to follow.

Now is this diet a sensible long-term eating plan? Not really. It's a short-term way to drop a few pounds, that's all. Don't you know that sometimes you need to see some quick results to keep you motivated or to get you motivated. That's what this eating plan can do: help your motivation by letting you drop a few pounds fast.

You might think that the cabbage soup diet is just eating cabbage soup for a week. No fun, huh? Actually you can use all kinds of cabbage soup recipes to provide some variety. But that's not what it is at all. Actually, you can eat all the cabbage soup you want for the entire week, but there are many different foods you can eat during the week. It's not at all a starvation diet. Each day you eat certain foods and the foods change on each day. When you consider that you can eat all the soup you want, there is little chance you will really get hungry. The down side is the absence of several of my favorite dishes from the food plan. No brownies, ice cream, sweet potato casserole or pizza. Oh well! Like most fat loss diets, you don't get breads and pastries.

Included in the meal plan are fruits, vegetables, meat, milk and bananas. Alright, here's the banana part. On the fourth day of the diet, you eat up to eight bananas and all the skim milk you want plus the soup. That's why I call it the banana diet!

Visit our site to get great cabbage soup recipes and the detailed free 7 day cabbage soup recipe diet plan. Go to Our Cabbage Soup Recipe Diet Plan and get the free plan and drop that ten pounds next week.

Integrated Training for Improved Cycling Performance: Corrective Exercise/Stabilization Training

As the previous article (Integrated Training for Improved Cycling Performance) looked at how cycling uses a repetitive motion and position that can lead to muscular imbalances, this article will take a look at how to correct these imbalances to allow the body to work more efficiently through a type of strength training known as corrective exercise.

Before we define what corrective exercise is, lets develop a quick understanding of how the body works. The body works as an integrated functional chain (kinetic chain)with The nervous system and muscular system work together as an integrated functional unit called the kinetic chain. If one link in the kinetic chain is weak, the rest of the chain is affected. For example, the cycling position places the hip flexors in a chronic flexed position. As these muscles become tight, their antagonists muscles become weak, in this case the abdominals (transverse abdominals) and glutes. In this weakened state the core cannot reduce, produce or transfer force developed from the quads and hamstrings during pedaling.

Traditional strength programs for cyclist focus on working the muscles of the quads, hamstrings, chest, and lats. This is where most cyclists make their mistake when starting an off-season training program. By strengthening these muscles without proper core stabilization, the lumbo-pelvic hip area (core) cannot stabilize the pelvis. Therefore a sound training in the off-season will focus on strengthening the core (muscles that stabilize) and gradually work toward the muscles that produce the force to drive the pedals (legs). With that in mind corrective exercise is defined as a phase in an integrated strength to improve muscular imbalances, neuromuscular deficiency, and improve the integrity of the kinetic chain.

Corrective Exercises are selected to improve flexibility, core strength and balance. Why balance you say? Balance is what keeps you upright on the bike. Core strength is the key to good balance. By incorporating balance into this type of training, core strength is enhanced. By improving these three key components, we can increase the efficiency of the kinetic chain and decrease the likelihood of injury to the lower back, upper back, neck, and knees.

The program is divided into 4sections:
1. Warm-up (flexibility).
2. Core Stabilization
3. Strength
4. Cool - down

The warm-up includes cardiovascular and flexibility exercises. Spend five minutes of light cardio activity to increase blood flow and raise core temperature. Without proper levels of flexibility, it is impossible to have an efficient functioning kinetic chain. Focus on stretching the hip flexors, quads, hamstrings, scalenes, sternocleidomastoid, calves, pectorals, lats and glutes. Hold each stretch for at least 20 seconds without bouncing.

The core stabilization training is next. The muscles of the core are slow twitch muscles and therefore need more repetitions to fatigue Repetition ranges are generally 15-25, 2-3 sets with a slow tempo to increase their ability to stabilize the spine. Exercises used to correct postural imbalances should emphasize eccentric and isometric muscle actions. Exercises used here are planks, bridges, and cobras. Balance exercises are used here to enhance proprioception and increase stability of the hips, knees, and ankles which will allow for a more efficient pedal stroke.

The strength section works the prime movers of the body while using a slow tempo to allow the muscles to stabilize the body and joints. Bodyweight and dumbbells are commonly used here with stability balls. Repetition and set ranges are the same as the core section (15-25 reps, 2-3 sets). Exercises are chosen to improve stabilization and strength of the shoulders, chest, back, and legs. The cycling position puts a lot of strain on the muscles between the shoulder blades due to the rounded, hunched over position. Therefore the exercise selected are to improve the strength and stabilization of the rhomboids, lower traps, lats, and external rotators. Exercises here include: stability ball dumbbell rows, single leg dumbbell scapcions, and external rotations. These exercises will improve the strength and stability of the shoulder allowing for decrease muscle soreness during long rides. The lower body exercises are designed to improve overall function of the leg as a pedaling unit. Exercises are as follows: single leg squats, stability ball leg curls, and tube walks.

Technique and form are the key to any exercise program and this one is no different. On every exercise, your core should be braced. To perform a abdominal brace, pull your bellybutton toward your spine, tighten your abs without moving your body (as if you were about to be punched in the stomach). Once you have this basic position, think about pushing your abs down into your pelvic region and hold. This position has been shown to reduce back strain by around 40%.

After you have finished with your workout you need to cool-down. Cool down should focus on static stretching of the same muscles that were stretched before you started to work. This allows the muscles that have tightened up to return to their normal resting position and enhance recovery.

Corrective exercise is the beginning part of an overall strengthening program. As your off-season gets longer, the intensity of the strength program will increase and become more specific to cycling activities that will improve strength and power.

Rapid Weight Loss

Maybe you are a little overweight. Maybe you're more than a little overweight and you need to lose quite a few excess pounds, especially around the tummy area. What's the best way to go about it?

To be honest a lot depends on how you want to lose the weight. If you want to lose excess weight fast then most diets fall short. If you've ever tried to starve yourself to get thin then you've probably found the results to be less than encouraging.

Let's assume for your height and build you are carrying excess weight. What's the reason for your being overweight? Lack of exercise and eating too much would be amongst the highest ranked answers. You've probably read somewhere that being overweight is a product of over eating and under exercising.

There's not much doubting the fact that if you sit around all day cramming fatty, processed foods down your throat then you are going to get fat. So you need to exercise more and eat less to get the pounds to fall off, right?

Wrong!

Why? Well, with most information there's an element of misinformation and it's no different in the world of dieting. The reason for becoming overweight in the first place has nothing to do with how you can effectively burn excess fat in a matter of days.

Most people's perception of losing weight is to eat less and exercise more.

Exercise is a great way of getting fitter and stronger. It's also great for toning and shaping but forget it if you want to achieve rapid weight loss. When you're overweight one of the last things you want to do is dive into a rigid exercise program.

Once you've managed to lose some serious weight and gain a little self confidence you might want to think about an exercise routine that fits in with your life. There are plenty of high impact and low impact activities to choose from. A simple 30 minute brisk walk every day might actually be all the exercise you'll ever need.

Don't confuse exercise with rapid weight loss. You would have to do some pretty serious exercising if you wanted to lose more than half a stone in less than two weeks. Eating less also tends to have very little effect on your body's ability to burn off excess fat. If you really want to lose some excess weight in a hurry then forget about starving yourself to get thin.

Let's assume that on average you consume approximately 2500 calories a day pretty much every day. Your body will get used to this amount and your metabolism will burn off these calories in the same way every day.

Now let's assume that you decide to lose some weight and cut back on the amount of calories that you consume and reduce to around 1000 calories per day. Very quickly your body adjusts to this reduction in calories and your metabolism adjusts also.

You won't burn off excess fat just by reducing the amount of calories you eat.

You might lose a few pounds here and there but then your metabolism will adapt and cope with a lot less calories and you'll probably start to feel tired and agitated as a result.

Imagine a weight loss method where by you can eat the things you like to eat every day, food that can be purchased at any supermarket or convenience store. Now imagine a weight loss method that actually encourages you to eat those things every two and a half hours for up to six times a day without increasing your current exercise routine.

Sounds too good to believe doesn't it? How can eating four, five or even six times a day possibly help to shed pounds in excess fat? It just goes against everything you're told doesn't it?

Welcome to the world of Calorie Shifting and it works by confusing the natural way that your body adapts to consuming calories every day. Think of it quite simply as a calorie work out for your metabolism. A work out that is responsible for achieving rapid weight loss time after time after time.

Calorie shifting is a way of mixing portions of everyday foods in such a way as to achieve significant weight loss in a matter of days and the process can be repeated again and again. The key elements to this successful rapid fat burning program are a variation in portion size and type of foods consumed within an eleven day period.

Unfortunately most people neither have the time or the know how to produce such a fat burning menu and this is where it becomes necessary to enlist expert help. This help comes via the aid of an Online Diet Generator. A review of a website currently offering an Online Diet Generator is available here.

Ultimate Weight Loss: Ephedra is Back?

I had some questions come in about Ephedra. So I have put together this short article to get you some info. Just to fill some of you in , Ephedra was taken off the market last year , but it is now back on the market and ready for consumers. This product seems to be the most wanted weight loss product. They cant keep this stuff on the shelves since it was given the OK to be sold again. Make sure you read some of the common sense rules below before using Ephedra.

Ephedra (also known as Ma huang, Chinese Ephedra and epitonin) is the worlds oldest medicine. The Chinese discovered ephedra more than 5000 years ago. Research has shown that ephedra increases metabolism and helps promote weight loss, relaxes the air passages in the lungs to help treat asthma and cough, promotes perspiration to help a person recover from a minor cold and helps promote urination to help relieve edema. Ephedra has been widely researched for its thermogenic (fat burning) properties. Research has show that ephedra helps promote the loss of fat while helping spare lean muscle tissue, a highly sought-after property that prescription diet medications still have not been able to reproduce.

Safety Tips

As ephedra is a stimulant and a thermogenic, it should NOT be used by people / in situations where these properties might be harmful. There are some common sense rules about using ephedra:

Do not use ephedra if you have any medical problems as the use of a stimulant might overtax your system. Do not use ephedra if your activity / environment will prevent you from dissipating heat. Your body core temperature might exceed safe levels. And do not take more than the manufacturer's recommended amount.

What this means is: If you have a heart condition, do not take ephedra. And if you plan to wear clothes to raise your body temperature, do not take ephedra. And do not think that playing baseball on a hot muggy day will counteract these two common sense conditions and make it okay to take ephedra.

How To Lose 10 Pounds Fast

I'm sure it's quite obvious that most people who want to lose weight want to do it in as little time as possible, people are often asking about how to lose 10 pounds fast or how to lose xxx amount of weight in 1 month or whatever other goal they have, well, this is actually quite a good thing but can be a bad thing too.

The good side of this is that knowing a specific goal you want to achieve is great, it gives you something to work for and you can quite easily keep track of your progress and know how close you are to succeeding with your goal, on the other hand, it can be bad when people set the bar too high, I mean, if you try to lose too much weight in a short period of time, not only are you unlikely to succeed but you may also make yourself sick, not a good idea.

Another point is that when people fail at something, it can be very discouraging, so if you don't achieve your goal, you may get very upset and give up even trying any more, on the other side of this, if you set an achievable goal and you DO achieve it, it can give you the motivation to keep going and get into great shape.

If you want to know how to lose 10 pounds in a week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, 1 month or whatever your target might be, you need to think about how easily you can achieve it and be realistic, otherwise you may be setting yourself up for a big disappointment.

Here are some tips for you on losing weight:

1.) Learn from others - This applies to many aspects of life and not just losing weight, people try to do things on their own, they try to do things they have no clue about and although it's great to try and learn new things, it can be much, much more difficult. Other people have been in the same situation as you, wanting to lose weight desperately, and they have done it, you can learn from these people so do it.

2.) Keep track of your progress - It's a very motivating thing to be able to look at a record of progress and see that you have been improving every single day, even small things that bring you closer to your goal and make you feel proud of yourself, these little things can do wonders for your mental state, they can give you the motivation and determination to go on.

3.) Set short term goals - Some people set goals for years down the line, this may or may not work for you but in my opinion, for losing weight, it would be better to set monthly goals and work on achieving them, this way you get to "achieve" something every month, rather than having to wait years.

So, whether you want to lose 10 pounds in a week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, 1 month or just generally fast, it's important that you are realistic with yourself and set yourself achievable goals.

The next step is to simply get a plan that you can follow and do what it takes to lose the weight, so get started!
